Chapter 2 SCSP Overview
-
2.1 LSI overview
- Since SCSP was developed with consideration given to multimedia support, the audio functions have been improved in functionality and sound quality. The calculation unit also has the performance close to that of a commercially available synthesizer, and can produce many sounds. In addition, various interfaces are prepared for future extensibility. The DSP section can also create multiple sound fields, and is effective for various sound field reproduction and special effects such as 3D sound localization.
The LSI features are described below.
- Sampling frequency
Sound source resampling frequency (constant playback rate) 44.1KHz
Waveform data sampling frequency 0 (DC) to 44.1 KHz
- Features
32 slots for both - FM and PCM.
There are 32 LFOs, one for each - slot (completely independent).
- 32 EGs with 4 segments are installed.
- Sound CPU and main CPU have two CPU interfaces.
- MIDI interface is built-in.
- A 128-step DSP is included.
- Built-in input mixer to select DSP input.
- Built-in output mixer that mixes sound source output and DSP output.
- New FM calculation method is installed.
