2. Replacing the disk

1Strict compliance matters and basic procedures

1) Strict compliance matters

When exchanging "Disc 1" and "Disc 2", please strictly observe the following matters.

《Matters to be observed when replacing disks》

2) Basic procedure for replacing disks

The replacement of "Disk 1" and "Disc 2" is performed according to the < > shown below.

《Basic procedure for replacing disks》

  1. Display a message on the game screen prompting you to change the disc.

[Please change the disk. Press the open button on the main unit to proceed to the multiplayer screen. After replacing disc 1 and disc 2, close the CD door of the main unit and restart the game. ] (User takes out “Disc 1” = presses the open button on the main unit)

  2. Shift processing to multiplayer screen
(User sets "Disc 2" = closes the CD door of the main unit)
  3. Perform CD check of inserted disc
  4. Display the required information (license SEGA logo)
  5. If there is no abnormality, return to the application immediately.

*The procedure for saving (saving) necessary data to backup RAM has been omitted.

2From "Disc 1" to "Disc 2"

1) At the end of “Disc 1”

When the main game on ``Disk 1'' ends and you want to move on to ``Disc 2'', replace the discs according to the ``Basic Disc Replacement Procedures''.
When starting "Disc 2" after transitioning from "Disc 1", displays unrelated to the main game (display of the SEGA logo, title screen, etc. in the application) are avoided as much as possible to ensure a smooth connection between the games. It is desirable to do so. (1. Basic design 2> There are some points that contradict the contents of the title sequence, but this will be discussed later in 5. (Please refer to the recommended specifications)

2) When starting a continuation from the contents of “Disc 2” on “Disc 1”

If the game starts from the contents of ``Disc 2'' even though it was started with ``Disc 1'' due to continue, etc., please note that the game will start from ``Disc 2'' before the disk swap process. Notify the user via screen display.
(User selects Continue from the title in "Disc 1")

  1. Load continue information from backup RAM
(The user selects and decides to record from the contents of "Disc 2")
  2. Display on the game screen that it will start from "Disc 2"
[It will start from disc 2. ]
  3. Follow the ``Basic procedure for replacing disks'' below.

3From "Disc 2" to "Disc 1"

As shown in the basic design section, when you play a game over, continue, or clear the game on Disc 2, you always return to the application start point (the Sega logo) on Disc 2. As will be explained later, if you reset using the pad "A+B+C+Start button", you will also return to the "Title screen" in "Disc 2". Therefore, the cases where you want to move from "Disc 2" to "Disc 1" are when there is no record (saved data) that starts from the contents of "Disc 2" even though you started with "Disc 2", or when there is no record (saved data) that starts from the contents of "Disc 2", or when there is no record (saved data) that starts from the contents of "Disc 2" 2, but this is only possible if the user selects to start recording from the contents of ``Disc 1''. This is 4> This will be explained in the section on how to deal with inserting the wrong disc.

*If there is a connection from "Disc 2" to "Disc 1" in terms of the game,
2> From “Disc 1” to “Disc 2” 1) At the end of “Disc 1”
Replace the disk according to the section.

4Inserting the wrong disc

Once you go through the multiplayer screen, it's impossible to insert the wrong disc for another application (I can't judge). Therefore, the only cases in which it is possible to determine whether a mistake has been made and notify the user by sending a message to that effect are in the cases described in 1) and 2) below.

  1. If you started up with "Disk 2" but there is no corresponding save data
If "Disk 2" is inserted without any records (saved data) used by the application, or if "Disk 2" is used to start up the application, the record starts from the contents of "Disc 2". If there is no (save data), the following warning message will be displayed and the user will be asked to change the disk.

[This is disk 2. There are no records that can be started from this disc. Please reinsert disk 1. ]

*It will not be included if there is no record (save data) that starts from the contents of "Disc 1" even though it was started with "Disc 1". (This is because “Disk 1” has a function that allows you to start from the beginning.)

*It is up to each application to decide whether to provide a function that allows you to start from the beginning after ``Disc 2.''

  2. If you start up with "Disc 2" but the user selects recording on "Disc 1"
In this case, it is not a mistake, so
    2. Replacing the disk 2> 2) From “Disc 1” to “Disc 2”
    We will respond accordingly.
