Except for special cases such as passwords, the only way to inherit the game state across multiple disks is to use backup RAM to save the state. Therefore, all multi-disc applications that use backup RAM must be designed to always save game records when replacing discs.
In applications that frequently save recordings using auto-save, the recordings are automatically saved immediately before replacing the disk.
In addition, if the application performs auto-save at a certain limited point, that point must be set at the end of playing "Disc 1".
Even in the case of an application in which the user can optionally save the recording, it is necessary to forcibly save the recording immediately before changing the disk. This is because if you do not save, the state of the game cannot be inherited and you will not be able to proceed to the second or later page.
As shown in the basic design section, backup RAM must be used in two-disc applications. In the case of a single-disc application, the user had to be able to play the game at his/her own discretion even if there were no records of the game and no free space (the save function could not be used at all). (Refer to separate volume 1: "Standards for creating backup compatible software")
In a two-disc application, if there is no record of this game and there is no free space (the save function cannot be used at all), there is no way to start up "Disc 2" in a valid state for the game. Therefore, before the main game of "Disc 1" starts, please respond to the following warning message.
[If you start the game as is, you will only be able to play halfway. Do you still want to start the game? Yes, No 】
Additionally, in the case of an application that originally uses the save function for purposes other than transferring to the second record, it is necessary to display a message that also states that the following record cannot be saved.
[If you start the game as is, you will not be able to save your records. Also, you can only play halfway. Do you still want to start the game? Yes, No 】However, if the play up to the middle (playing only the first game) ends in a significantly inappropriate place (there is a risk that it may be mistaken for a fatal bug), you will be forced to play the game with the above message. Shouldn't. In that case, the required free space will be displayed along with a message prompting you to delete the records of other applications, and the game will not start. (For messages, please refer to separate volume 1: "Standards for creating backup-compatible software.")
