When a Macintosh file is downloaded on a PC, etc.

Q)
I hear that kankeri.exe is required when downloading Macintosh files to a PC, etc., but where can I find it on Nifty-serve?

A)
kankiri.exe converts file headers from files that are down on DOS, PC-98, etc. to Macintosh resource headers, and this program is located in FMACBG.

I want a 16-dot or 14-dot kanji font.

Q)
I want 16dot and 14dot kanji fonts (15dot and 13dot, respectively, excluding spaces). Is there a better way?

I think there is no problem with the 16dot font provided by SEGA, but the problem is with 14dot. I tried purchasing Fontworks Japan's ``Shinmoji Densetsu,'' which we introduce, but since it's for Mac, I don't know how to extract the bitmap font data. Due to the large number of characters required, it is not practical to write each character individually using graphic tools.
I don't have anyone familiar with Mac, so I don't know the format of the Marukan font, so I can't do anything about it (I don't even know if the 14dot version is included in the first place).

A)
Fontworks fonts are formatted for Adobe Type Manager, so
First, you will need to convert the installed font from Adobe Type Manager to a format for pict or Adobe Illustrator, and then reduce it to create a font. However, if you reduce the font, the characters will inevitably be crushed, so please do this. I think you need to fix it manually.
Our RPG also uses fonts that have been manually modified by converting data using this method.

About SATURN's Boot ROM.

Q)
Is there an updated version of BOOT-ROM? If it exists, is it available?

A)
Since becoming a white Saturn, the version 1.01 has been displayed where the SEGASATURN logo is displayed. However, there is currently no development machine (DevSATURN) that uses this version of BOOT-ROM. Therefore, we cannot provide it.
The version of BOOT-ROM certainly changes depending on when the Saturn was released, but other Saturns such as Hi-SATURN and V-SATURN also exist. In this inquiry, it is not clear why this is necessary, but if you wish to check it, please respond by checking the operation on an actual machine (white Saturn).

Please tell me how to read the address error list.

Q)
I received an address error list, but I don't understand how to read it.

A)
For example, suppose you receive a list like this:

f-no addr data cs bm bs st dsck sdram
00002+ 00000010/16 200 CS0 SH2M WR
00001+ 00000012/16 200 CS0 SH2M WR

addr is the address being accessed and its bit width,
data is the size of the data bus,
bm is the chip being accessed (e.g. SH2M, SH2S, SCU)
st is READ/WRITE.

So in this case,
This means that Master SH2 is accessing 0x00000010 for writing in words.

Please tell me about the items on the ROM delivery note.

Q)
Please tell me more about the following items on the ROM delivery note.

  1. The question is, is the linear velocity of CD-ROM 1.25m/sec?

  2. Is the duty ratio of the CD drive set to within 33% for approximately 10 minutes?

  3. Are you using pre-emphasis regardless of whether you use SCSP?

A)

  1. This is not a problem if you use a CD-R recommended by SEGA (for SATURN).

  2. Duty ratio is the ratio of CDROM access and search.
    Developer's Information STN-1
    Please refer here.

  3. Pre-emphasis is a process that is applied to audio during recording, but it is rarely used today.
If you don't know this word, you most certainly don't use it.
    Therefore, please mark "YES" .

    For "Pre-emphasis", please refer to Developer's Information STN-2 .

Does the media for the Write Once CD have to be Sega-specified media?

Q)
Does the media for the Write Once CD have to be private media designated by Sega?

A)
Please be sure to deliver the master using private media specified by SEGA.
We cannot accept anything other than this. (You may use any brand of CD-R during development.)

Please tell me the business hours for technical support.

Q)
Until what time can I ask technical support questions?

A)
SEGA Technical Support is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

We are available by telephone during the business hours listed above, and by fax or email at any time.

However, as there is a risk of missing information if we accept requests over the phone, we ask that you submit your request in writing (FAX/email) whenever possible.
Also, in that case, be sure to

Please write down the following.

Also, when asking a question, please think carefully about the content of the question before contacting us.

We often receive questions without fully understanding the content of the questions, and in such cases, it takes a lot of time to communicate with both parties, which may actually delay the response.

If you have the necessary information ready in advance, we will be able to answer your questions very quickly.

What is Simple Address Checker?

Q)
What is Simple Address Checker?

A)
The official name of the simple address checker is "SS Checker."

This SS checker can check the prohibited access areas (hatched areas in the figure) on the Saturn address map in Figures 1.3 and 1.5 , which are found in the SCU mapping section of the SCU User's Manual of "HARDWARE MANUAL". It's a part.

Therefore, not all address errors can be detected; for example,

"There is a write operation to a read-only register"

It is not possible to detect such types of address errors.

For strict checks, please use the conventional "Address Checker".
